Wood VS Metal Slats

All of the beds we sell are considered Mattress Ready. This basically means that the beds come with SLATS included so there is NO need for bunkie boards or box springs. Our beds are designed to use the mattress by itself, alone. We do sell an assortment of mattresses on our website that you can add to your bed purchase, however we only ship mattresses WITH the bed purchase we can not sell mattresses by themselves sorry. But do not fret our beds take standard TWIN size and standard FULL size mattresses, depending on the bed there may be height limitation for most of our beds the TOP bunk mattresses cannot be thicker than 8 inches (for Acacia Twin/Full Bunk beds the mattress can be 9” or less) and we recommend not using a mattress thicker than 10 inches for lower bunks or platform beds.

Our slats come in Wood and also in Metal. if your bed has the Wood slats you will have either 11 or 13 slats per mattress spaced approximately every 3 inches apart. if your bed has the Metal slats you will have 20 slats spaced approximately every 3 inches apart. You cannot chose what kind of slats you want, each bed has specific slats that it comes with and that is most likely what will be shipped with your bed. Should you decide to Add the Trundle Bed option then that bed will have Wood Slats, ALL trundle beds are twin size and all trundle beds have wood slats. Should you decide to add the Metal center support to your purchase to increase the bed weight rating your slat will still be the same, the only “extra”you are buying is the Metal center support which is metal, it can be used with both wood and metal slats. If you do not want to see your slats you can also purchase the plastic Slat Protector Cover.

Both the Metal slats and the Wood slats have the same weight rating and have both been tested for safety and are ASTM approved. Returning a bed because the slats are not what you wanted is not an option, this would be considered a buyers remorse request for return and our return policy would apply. Should the slats become damaged due to shipping or wear and tear we reserve the right to replace the slats with either wood or metal slats. In most case the wood slats are safe to UPS as the Metal slats are over sized and tend to get damaged when UPS’d alone, this is why replacement slats are usually wood.
